„In my art, I seek a new connection – between humans and nature, between the inner world and the outer world, between what we have built and what has built us.
I do not paint separation, but rather the longing for unity. Plants break through walls, light falls into rooms like a memory. For me, nature is not decoration – it is the subject.
My art is political. It does not accuse – it shows what we are losing. It is a tribute to what once existed and yet is disappearing. And it is an attempt to let back in what we have suppressed – beauty, silence, nature, light.“
Marina Sailer's paintings revel in bold yet modulated and nuanced colors, which she uses to create her neo-baroque, fantastical spatial scenes. Against sparkling chandeliers, reflective glass, and lush vine patterns, fish, butterflies, and even elfin creatures float by in morbid palaces as if in dreams. The fairytale-like, mysterious images exert a magnetic pull that viewers gladly surrender to.
